Grace. This is a beautiful word with a beautiful meaning but most people overlook the greatness of this simple concept. Others tend to confuse grace with mercy. Grace is the when you get something good that you don’t deserve; unmerited favor, while mercy is when you do not get a punishment you deserve. Ephesians 2:8-9 says “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” Grace is a fantastic thing.
What does God’s grace offer to us?
Grace offers forgiveness of sins. It means that nothing we do could EVER earn forgiveness. Ephesians 1:7, Titus 3:3-7.
Grace offers us fellowship with God. We are no longer enemies of God according to Romans 5:1-2. Have you ever had someone who betrays you and disobeys you over and over again but you give your son’s life to save them? That is what God did and that is the beauty of His grace.
Grace offers us spiritual blessings such as comfort, good hope and it makes you sufficient in all things. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17, 2 Corinthians 9:8.
Grace offers us eternal life. It builds us up and prepares us for our forever life in heaven with Him. Acts 20:32, 1 Peter 1:3 and 4:7.
Grace solidifies that we have a need for our Savior.
The gospel sums up our need for God’s grace and the fact that He gave us that present. He gave us unconditional grace, unmerited grace. He loved us SO much that He presented us with the undeserved gift of grace, of His love. Galatians 3:23-26, Romans 5:8, John 14:6, Acts 4:12, Luke 19:10.
I don’t know about you but this is a great thing that we have been given and it is something that we should treasure forever!
