Dear future children,
I already love you. I know that you are quite a ways away from being born into this world but I cannot wait to be able to hold you in my arms. I don’t know how many of you I will have, but I hope that you are all happy and healthy. Even though, your father and I have not met yet, I know that whomever he may be, he will love you and protect you just as much as I will. We will work to raise you in a Christian home, one that is loving, caring, and inviting. I don’t want you to grow up hating our religion as so many people I have known in the past have when they were raised in a Christian home. I pray that I have the strength to tell you all about my faith journey, to share my testimony with you when you are older. I want you to know that everyone messes up so it’s okay if you make mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes and I am expecting you to. I would be worried if you DIDN’T make mistakes. I pray that your father and I show you how to love the Lord as much as we do but please know that we are not perfect. Nobody is perfect. I pray that you grow up to be kind and loving Christian adults who will instill the same values into your own children, my grandchildren. I pray that your father and I will be able to provide you with all of the love and kindness that you need and that we can teach that you are IN this world but you are not OF this world so those material things, those shoes you just have to have or that new phone because yours is so two months ago, mean nothing. I want you to be selfless and to love the people of this world as Jesus loves us. We only know how to love because he first loved us. He died for us so the least we can do is to live for him. I pray that you learn from me how to love everyone. Just because someone does not know the Lord does not mean that you are better than them. God loves us all the same; no one better, no one lesser. Most of all, I just pray that you feel the same fire that I feel for Jesus. Some days that fire will burn brighter than others but on those days that the fire is dimming, you must fan the flames. Don’t give up and let the fire go out because if you do, it will be that much harder to get it started back up again. Keep the fire burning and I promise to do everything I can to help keep your fire strong. I promise that your father and I will raise you in a home where love and kindness are shown on a daily basis. I promise to be honest with you. Lastly, I promise to love you with my whole heart, forever and always. <3
with love,
your mother.
